“Ce-i aia o prietenie? E treaba aia când doi oameni se intâlnesc de mai multe ori şi vorbesc între ei? E genul ăla de intimitate împărţită in doi? Ar trebui să mă simt altfel dacă am prieteni? Mai reponsabil, mai fericit, mai împlinit? Câţi prieteni am cu adevărat? Mai ştiu eu ce-i aia o prietenie? Amic sau camarad, sau coleg, sau cum?

Undeva în adâncul sufletului îmi amintesc că imi eşti prieten pentru că pot să râd cu tine, pentru că pot să te cert, să te înjur şi, cel mai important, îmi eşti prieten pentru că ştiu că vei fi disponibil la orice oră din zi şi din noapte, atunci când voi avea nevoie de tine. Asta se întâmplă în spectacolul O intervenţie. Se operează pe viu şi fără anestezie o relaţie umana, cu toate implicaţiile ei. Cu haz, cu ură, cu sfaturi, cu emoţie, cu disponibilitate şi, cel mai important, cu prezenţa.

Mike Bartlett scrie pentru un public ancorat în realitate. Textele sale stârnesc atât emoţia, cât şi inteligenţa publicului, iar O Intervenţie nu face excepţie. Replicile sale au zvâc, incisivitate, umor şi emoţie. Eu, ca tânăr regizor, am avut grijă să nu distrug coordonatele unei reţete cu succes aşteptat. Atunci când ai pe mână un spaţiu atât de special cum e Teatrul ACT, doi actori mega talentaţi şi un text fenomenal, treaba mea a fost să ajut, asemenea unui monteur de film, ca ritmul textului şi talentul actorilor să ajungă în ochii şi simţurile spectatorului la cel mai ridicat nivel posibil.” (Radu Iacoban)

“What is friendship? Is it when two people meet several times and talk to each other? Is it intimacy shared by two people? Should I feel different if I have friends? More responsible maybe, happier, more accomplished? How many true friends do I have? Do I still know what friendship is? A friend or a mate, a fellow or what exactly?

Deep down in my soul, I know that you are my friend because I can laugh with you, we can argue, call each other names and, most important or all, you are my friend because I know I can count on you being available day and night whenever I might need you. That is what An Intervention is about. A human relationship undergoing surgery without anesthesia, with all that comes from it. With laugh, hate, advice, emotion, availability and, above all, with presence.

Mike Barlett writes for an audience that is anchored in reality. His texts challenge people’s emotions, as well as intelligence, and An Intervention is no exception to it. His lines are vigorous, incisive, fun and deep. I, as a young director, was very careful not to destroy the elements of a successful recipe. With such a special venue as the ACT Theatre, with two extremely talented actors and a fabulous text, my job of that of helping, just like a film editor, so that the rhythm of the text and the actors’ talent should get to the eyes and heart of the audience at its highest lever possible.” (Radu Iacoban)
